Topic: Creating a Healthy Culture
Full Bio: John is currently a manager with the Vancouver International Airport Authority. He is well known for his work with progressive employers where he designed and implemented many successful occupational health and safety and human resources programs. John is responsible for providing leadership and direction of the Airport Authority's health and safety systems for employees, tenants, construction and the public. He is also responsible for corporate training development and delivery. He holds an MBA from Royal Roads University, is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), and is an adjunct professor at UBC teaching Modern Safety Management in the Master's of Occupational Hygiene and Environment Program. He was British Columbia's Canadian Society of Safety Engineering Safety Professional of the Year in 1996. Specific accomplishments include the development and implementation of safety management systems, safety perception surveys, attendance management programs, peer focused safety processes and programs related to the effective management of substance abuse, stress and early intervention disability management. He has participated on committees to develop new regulations for firefighters and First Aid and currently sits as an Employer Representative on the Policy & Practices Consultation Committee of the WCB of BC.
